Teradata Aster recommends these Hadoop cluster configurations in order to run Aster-Analytics-on-Hadoop on a supported Hadoop distribution:

For an Aster instance installation the requirements are:
  • Install the Aster queen node on a Hadoop cluster edge node.
  • Install Aster worker nodes on only Hadoop cluster data nodes.
  • Recommended configuration: Three Master nodes, One Edge node, and Eight Data nodes
  • Minimum configuration: Three Master nodes, One Edge node, and Three Data nodes
  • Recommended minimum node size: For each vWorker, Aster requests a container of 32GB memory and four CPU cores. If the number of vworkers is X and the number of nodes is Y, Aster uses max(X/Y, 1)*32 GB of memory and max(X/Y, 1)*4 CPU cores inside YARN on each node.
