July 2018 5.01.01 Implemented the following changes:
  • For DS14_v2 and DS15_v2 Teradata Database VM sizes, increased the AMP count to 24 and changed the storage configuration to 24 x 256 and 24 x 1024 for network-attached SSDs
  • Changed the storage size per node to a maximum of 48 TB when deploying a Teradata ecosystem.
  • Added ability to connect to a mainframe when deploying a Teradata ecosystem or after deploying a VM to allow data transfer between your mainframe and the Teradata Database in the public cloud.
  • Teradata Data Mover, Teradata Viewpoint Multiple Systems, and Teradata Viewpoint Single System Data Lab are available for BYOL. When deployed separately from the ecosystem solution template, Data Mover and Viewpoint are no longer available on an hourly basis.
  • Added support for Azure US Government and Azure Australia Central regions.
  • Prior to scaling a system in or out, you must stop Teradata Database.
  • Changed feature names to conform to industry standards:
    • Fold to scale in
    • Unfold to scale out
    • Resizing to scaling up or scaling down an instance

    The command names for fold and unfold remain unchanged.

  • Added new topic, Elasticity.

February 2018 5.01 Implemented the following changes:
  • Added support for Teradata Database 16.20. Removed support for Teradata Database 16.10.
  • Base tier now supports:
    • Network-attached storage
    • The Temporal feature
    • The Fold and Unfold feature
  • Can now enable the Temporal feature when deploying Teradata Database.
  • Teradata Data Mover changes:
  • Updated password requirements for Teradata Database, Data Mover, DSC, Server Management, and Viewpoint.
  • Added new ports for Teradata Data Mover and Teradata Ecosystem Manager.
  • Added new topics for Methods to Connect to Azure, Logging On to a VM, and Microsoft Azure Issues.
  • Updated licensing information to reflect the new Teradata EMS, https://slem.teradata.com/ecp.
  • Changed the title of this book, previously known as Teradata Database on Azure Getting Started Guide.
