The table below describes the PowerCLI commands, or states, available with the Vantage on VMware deployment executable, tdc.deploy.exe.

The deploy command automatically runs a full deployment. Most commands can also be run independently for troubleshooting purposes. When prompted, type a command name or its associated number to perform a task.

Command Description
System Deployment Menu
deploy Deploys Vantage on VMware.
The following commands in the System Deployment Menu run automatically when you run deploy.
confirmation Displays the SMP or MPP system described in the properties files.
validation Runs validations for the VMware environment.
clone Clones new VMs from the template provided.
cpu_memory Adjusts the CPU and memory settings on each VM.
public_adapters Connects the public (customer) adapters to each VM.
bynet_adapters Connects the BYNET adapters to each TPA VM.
cmic_adapters Connects the Server Management (CMIC) adapters to each VM.
dsu_adapters Connects the DSU adapters to each VM.
storage Attaches the database storage to each VM.
poweron Powers up the VMs.
vmtools Verifies the VMware tools are running on each VM.
copyfiles Creates miscellaneous files and transfers them into each VM.
os_password Changes the root passwords of VMs.
network Configures the network for each VM.
reboot Reboots all the VMs.
network_validate Verifies the network status.
ntp Configures NTP on all VMs.
configure Configures the Teradata system through TDput to initialize the DBS.
mainframe Sets TCHN to connect to the mainframe over TCP/IP.
dbs_flags Sets up DBS flags such as, Columnar, Temporal, and so on.
dsu Runs scripts to configure the DSU VM.
cmic Runs scripts to configure the Server Management (CMIC) VM.
dbc_password Changes the DBC password of the TPA VMs.
viewpoint Runs scripts to configure the Viewpoint VM.
harden_security Secures a deployed system.
enableBE2 Enables Boot Environment2 on the TPA VMs.
enableHBA Enables Host-Based Authentication.

removevms Use with caution!

Revokes the license, powers off the systems, and removes the VMs.

poweron Powers up the VMs.
poweroff Powers off all the VMs.
reboot Reboots all the VMs.
vmtools Verifies the VMware tools are running in each VM.
License-Related Menu
activate_license Generates a license for the requested system.
removevms Use with caution!

Revokes the license, powers off the systems, and removes the VMs.

identify Displays the System Info for licensing.
activate_license_powercli For non-internet connected sites, activates and downloads license files to the workstation using PowerCLI.
System Recovery Menu
fatalamprecovery Determines AMPs in FATAL state and rebuilds them.
nodefailurerecovery Determines failure nodes and recovers them.
System Expansion Menu
monitored_system Adds Teradata systems to the Viewpoint monitored systems list.
add_adapter Adds a network adapter to VMs.
expand_system Adds one or more TPA nodes to existing system.
