As installed, the TDP memory system is tuned for a very small workload. If the production workload greatly exceeds the level for which TDP is prepared, it may come to a complete stop. This may require that TDP be shut down and restarted to re-establish communication with the Teradata Database server.
For more information on tuning, refer to the “Tuning TDP Cells to Optimize Performance” and related sections of the “Performance Measurement and Tuning” chapter in Teradata Director Program Reference, B035-2416.
- Within a few hours of the initial start of the production Teradata workload on the IBM System z mainframe, collect TDP Cells data and perform the first tuning procedure.
- Within a few days, perform the tuning procedure again.
- Continue to periodically check the TDP Cells data to determine if the workload has changed and the tuning procedure is required again.
