Full Disk Encryption (FDE) is available as an option for Teradata Appliance 2700 and up and Teradata Active EDW 6700 and up platforms. With FDE, the disk controller automatically encrypts all data written to the disk and decrypts the data when it is accessed, without performance degradation. FDE is available to meet requirements of the medical and banking industries that require safe guards against data theft if a disk drive is lost or stolen.
