If a user logs onto the Appliance Backup Utility server but does not have root permissions, the Appliance Backup Utility GUI fails to launch. When the GUI is launched, gui_log.txt is created in /opt/teradata/abu_service/gui. If the directory does not have write permissions for the current user, the log file cannot be created.
- If the permissions do not exist, give the current user write permissions to /opt/teradata/abu_service/gui .

If you have to relaunch the GUI, on the console of the Teradata node where the Appliance Backup Utility server resides:
- Change directory to /opt/teradata/abu_service/gui/bin.
- Type one of the following commands:
