Do not remove the Appliance Backup Utility until the backup datasets are unnecessary. If you need to restore from an Appliance Backup Utility dataset before the datasets are outdated, start the server and the clients manually using /etc/init.d/tdabusrv start and /etc/init.d/tdabuclient start.

You can also restore selected backups to a temporary user database, then back up the datasets using the Teradata Managed BAR Framework. The existing configuration of connections to the external storage device must remain intact as long as there is a possibility that you need to restore an Appliance Backup Utility dataset.

When all datasets become outdated, remove the Appliance Backup Utility components.

  1. At the command line, type the code in bold font:
    # psh -group tpa
    psh.0> s all
    all 3 nodes selected
    psh.1> rpm -e abu_service
    psh.3> rpm -e abu_gui
    psh.4> quit
    #
All Appliance Backup Utility packages from all of the Teradata Database nodes in the system are removed.
  2. [Optional] To remove Appliance Backup Utility working and external storage directories, at the end of the psh command line:
    1. Type rm -rf /opt/teradata/abu_service/*.
    2. Type rm -rf /var/opt/teradata/abu_service/*.
    3. Type rm -rf /etc/opt/teradata/abu_service/*.
    4. Type rm -rf /var/abu_storage.
