With the ARC utility, you use the command line to archive data.

Each site has established procedures for archiving data. Use the procedures established as standard for your site.

To successfully run the required post-restoration scripts, you must create separate archive files for the database DBC tables, journal tables, and user data tables when using ARC. If journaling is enabled on any database, archive the journal files.

You must archive database DBC in a single stream. Archives created using the multi-stream feature cannot be restored. For more information, see Teradata Archive/Recovery Utility Reference.

The time required for archival can vary widely depending on the method and media used and the size of the database.
