In this Data Domain Boost implementation, the Data Domain is connected to the DSC server and BAR media servers. The following components are installed.
BAR media server software can also be installed on the BAR DSC Server.

Data Domain Boost implementation with the Data Domain connected to the DSC server and BAR media servers

Distributed Segment Processing, or DSP, performs many of the data deduplication functions on the backup server, eliminating the need to transmit duplicate data across the network. The following flags are set to accomplish this task:
  • The DSP flag should be set to ON for media servers.
  • The DSP flag can be set to ON or OFF on database nodes.
