Advanced SQL Engine Nodes for IntelliBase | Dell R730xd or R740xd |
Hadoop Nodes for IntelliBase | Dell R740xd |
680 Platform Teradata Data Mart Appliance | Maximum of one optional 680 system, consisting of:
The number and location of optional components in a base cabinet depend on the type of power used (ABCD). |
Aster Appliance 5 Nodes | Dell R730 and R730xd configured for use as one of a variety of Aster node types, including: Queen, Backup, Worker, Loader, and AppCenter nodes. |
Hadoop Appliance 5 or 6 Nodes | Dell R730xd configured for use as one of a variety of node types, including: Master, Data, and Edge nodes. |
SAS High-Performance Analytics (HPA) Worker Node | Dell R720, R730, or R730xd server configured for SAS HPA in-memory software. |
SAS Worker Node | Dell R740xd server configured for SAS HPA or SAS Viya in-memory software. |
Teradata Multipurpose Server (TMS) | Dell R730, R730xd, or R740xd used as an application-specific server running software peripheral to Advanced SQL Engine. Dell R730:
Dell R730xd:
Dell R740xd:
All TMSs have onboard connectivity to the Server Management network. |
Channel Server | Intel R2208WT or Dell R730 for interface between Advanced SQL Engine and IBM (or compatible) mainframe:
|
Extended Channel Solution (ECS) | Dell R730 for interface between Advanced SQL Engine and IBM (or compatible) mainframe:
|
Dump Server | Dell R730xd for crash dump data analysis. Data can be offloaded from the production data warehouse environment to a dump server, allowing for analysis without disruption to the production system. The dump server must run the same version of Advanced SQL Engine as the production system from which the dump data was offloaded.
|
Enterprise Viewpoint Server | Dell R730, R730xd, or R740xd server that hosts the Viewpoint portal containing portlets for customer management of the system database. Systems that have more than 128 nodes require dedicated enterprise Viewpoint hardware (rather than a VMS with a Viewpoint virtual machine). The enterprise Viewpoint hardware can reside in a 9400 cabinet.
|
Network Connectivity Server (NCS) | Intel R2208WT and Dell R730 for providing additional customer network connectivity options:
|
Enterprise Service Workstation (SWS) | Dell R730, R730xd, or R740xd for system servicing and maintenance. Systems with more than 128 nodes require dedicated Enterprise SWS hardware (rather than a VMS with an SWS virtual machine) which resides in a 9400 cabinet.
|
BAR Storage Data Domain and Quantum products |
Storage hardware and encryption key management servers. The following are used for BAR and installed in the field by third-party vendor personnel:
Equipment from different vendors can be installed in the same 9400 cabinet, provided that the cabinet build and space allocation rules are observed.
|
BAR Storage Hardware Teradata Multipurpose Storage Server (TMSS) |
Dell R730xd used as an NFS storage target with the Data Stream Utility (DSU):
Dell R740xd as an NFS storage target with or without the Data Stream Utility (DSU):
All TMSSs have onboard connectivity to the Server Management network. They can also connect to BYNET switches. |
Switches |
|
Cable Modes | Both single-mode fiber (SMF) and multi-mode fiber (MMF) connections are supported for the 10Gb Ethernet optical interfaces. |
BYNET or InfiniBand Interconnect | Redundant BYNET switches using BYNET InfiniBand. Used for processing node (TPA), PE node, and channel server communication. A 9400 cabinet can contain redundant 36-port BYNET InfiniBand switches. A maximum of four pairs of InfiniBand switches can be supported in the 9400 cabinet. |
Virtualized Management Server (VMS) (Intel R1208WF only) |
An Intel R1208WF VMS is only available in a System VMS configuration, and can host the following virtual machines (VMs):
Any remaining resources on the VMS are reserved for future use/expansion. Additional Guest VMs should not be added to the VMS.
System VMS consists of:
|
Virtualized Management Server (VMS) (Intel R1208WT only) |
An Intel R1208WT VMS is available in both System and Cabinet VMS configurations, and can host the following virtual machines (VMs):
System VMS consists of:
Cabinet VMS consists of:
An Intel R1208WT Cabinet VMS may only be used if you have a corresponding Intel R1208WT System VMS.
|
Server Management Web (SMWeb) Services |
|
Keyboard, Monitor, Mouse (KMM) Console | The KMM may reside in the processing/storage cabinet or in the 9400 cabinet, and has VGA and USB connections to the VMS. |
AC Power Subsystem |
