The Teradata Database system must be added and the logins created before you can configure the data collectors to monitor the database. The default authentication mechanism is set up by the Teradata Database System Administrator.
  1. Click next to Systems and select Add Teradata System.
  2. Under General System Details, enter a system nickname, up to 8 characters.
  3. [Optional] Select the Enable system check box. After it is enabled, the system starts collecting data.
  4. Enter the TDPID of the Teradata Database system.
  5. [Optional] Enter the site ID assigned by Teradata Customer Services. After enabling a system, the Site ID becomes read-only if Viewpoint detects a value for the system. A site ID is required when using Elastic Performance on Demand.
  6. Enter a login name and password. You can specify an account string and authentication, add more logins, test the login settings, and grant access to a Teradata Database system. Add any logins used for Teradata Viewpoint data collection to the system-level bypass. To define system-level bypass settings, use the Workload Designer portlet. For information, see the Teradata Viewpoint User Guide.
  7. [Optional] Click Test to verify that the login settings are correct. If the operation is successful, appears. If the operation fails, appears. If you receive an error, verify that the login credentials are valid and the host can be reached.
  8. [Optional] Under Authentication Options, select a check box to specify which authentication mechanisms will be available in the portlets that require them.
  9. [Optional] Under Character Set, select default character sets and enter a JDBC Flag value: For more information, see Character Set Definitions
    • Select a character set from the Session menu.
    • Select a character set from the Monitor menu.
    • Enter a JDBC Flag value.
  10. Under Time Zone, select the time zone the system uses to log DBQL and ResUsage data.
  11. [Optional] Under Collectors, select the check box to activate all data collectors except Elastic Limit, Elastic Usage, Virtual Storage, Stats Manager, and Query Log so they can collect data on this system. The data collectors can be enabled and configured individually in Data Collectors. The Elastic Performance portlet uses the Elastic Limit and Elastic Usage data collectors to display data. The TVS Monitor portlet uses the Virtual Storage data collector. The Stats Manager portlet uses the Stats Manager data collector to display data, and is available for systems running Teradata Database 14.10 or later. The Query Log portlet uses the Query Log data collector to display historical DBQL data.
  12. [Optional] Under Enhanced TASM Functions, select the check box to activate the workload management features available with your TASM license in SLES 11. After it is enabled, the (For SLES 11 systems only) comment no longer displays.
  13. Click Apply. If the operation is successful, appears. If the operation fails, appears. If you receive an error, verify that the settings are correct and try again.
