When most components are reset, a graceful shutdown is performed and a reboot is attempted. Before starting a reset of a node chassis, processing node cabinet, VMS, or VM node, you must shut down the appropriate applications to ensure data integrity.
If a component fails the reset, you can, as a last resort, perform a hard reset. A hard reset is an immediate reset of the node, VMS, or VM node. Because data corruption on the nodes can occur, you should only perform this command when all other attempts to reset have failed.

Ethernet Switch | Resets the Ethernet switch. The ports on the attached devices are unavailable during the reset. |
InfiniBand Switch | Resets the InfiniBand switch. The ports on the attached devices are unavailable during the reset. |
Dot Hill (DH) Disk Array | Resets the DH Disk Array. During the reset, the array is off-line and the associated storage devices are unavailable. |
