Configurations can be classified as Single-System configurations or Multi-System configurations. In this context, system refers to one of the following definitions.
- Each system is assigned a unique system name.
- A Teradata system includes the set of Teradata Database nodes and disk arrays associated with a single instance of the Teradata Database.
- In a single-system configuration, server management monitors and manages a single Hadoop cluster. The minimum configuration of a Hadoop cluster consists of three Master Nodes for Hadoop and three Data Nodes for Hadoop. The cluster has a unique system name. All the nodes in the cluster must share a common Server Management Domain and a common Site ID configured in server management.
- Each 2800 or 2850 2+0 clique (which consists of 2 database nodes and 2 disk arrays) is always a separate system.
- Each 2800 or 2850 4+0 clique (which consists of 4 database nodes and 4 disk arrays) is always a separate system.
Shared system components (collectives and cabinets, VMSs, BYNET InfiniBand switches, server management switches, and TMSs) are not assigned system names.
Nodes in all multi-system configurations share the InfiniBand switches.
In a multi-system configuration all systems must be running the same version of SMWeb Services.
