You can back up a Teradata VM residing in the Azure public cloud or a Teradata on-premises system to the Azure public cloud using Blob storage as the backup target. The backup may be restored from Blob storage to the same or a different Teradata Database VM in the Azure public cloud or a Teradata on-premises system.

Before using Blob storage as the backup target for DSU, consider the following limitations:
  • DSU supports both hot and cold Blob storage, however, only one type may be used for each backup target group.
  • Only one DSC repository may be used. Backup jobs may not be exported from one DSC and imported into another DSC.
  • The target group for back up and restore of the DSC repository cannot be Blob storage, but must be a local disk file system.

Initial configuration of Blob storage target groups must be completed using the Teradata BAR portlets. See the Teradata® Data Stream Architecture (DSA) User Guide.

Storage allocation expands automatically up to the maximum Azure storage account capacity. See Azure Documentation Center for more information on Azure storage account limits and performance targets.
