Once you identify the requirements for moving data within the database environment, you must select the components that the script will use to execute the job. There are two types of components you need to consider:
- A producer operator that reads data from the database and places it in the data stream.
and
- A consumer operator that takes data from the data stream and writes it to the same, or another, database.
or
- A standalone operator that acts as both producer and consumer.
All applicable operators have already been discussed in preceding topics. See the following references for operator information.
- For introductory information on operators that read data from the database, see Moving Data from the Database to an External Target.
- For information on operators that write data to the database, see Moving External Data into the Database.
