Teradata Partitions

Teradata Database supports several different types of request processors, which are known as partitions. A partition is specified when a session is established by the CLIv2 Run String addressed in the DBCAREA. CLI operates identically for all partitions. Although the structure of requests and responses is the same for all partitions, the contents vary by partition. The following partitions are supported by the system for general use:

Partition

Action Taken

DBC/SQL

processes SQL requests

EXPORT

used by FastExport utility

HUTCTL and HUTPARSE

used by ARC utility

FASTLOAD

used by FastLoad utility

MLOAD

used by MultiLoad utility

MONITOR

processes performance monitor requests

The remaining chapters of this manual assume use of the DBC/SQL partition.
