Aster Database manages database access using roles. An Aster Database administrator creates roles and assigns them to either a database user or to a group of database users. Depending on how you set up roles, roles can own database objects and assign privileges to other roles. The assignment of roles controls which users have access to which objects.
An administrator can grant membership in a role to another role. Membership enables a role to use the privileges granted to the role in which it is a member. Administrators also can use roles to create groups of users. Groups of users are identified by the roles assigned to them and any rights they have, inherited or not, to access specific database objects.
