Server Management Network for System with Maximum 162 Nodes, 2 BYNET V5 Cabinets

  • This configuration is built on the cabinet and collective topology defined in Collectives.
  • The topology shown in the illustration above is based on a 6700 system with 54 cabinets in a 2+1 configuration with one clique per cabinet. The topology may differ depending on the number of cabinets in the system. The number of cabinets is determined by the clique configuration (1+1, 2+1, or 3+1) of the cabinets in the system.
  • Each cabinet shown above represents a collective. The collective may include Platform Framework Cabinets (not shown).
  • This configuration has a pair of BYNET V5 cabinets for redundancy (Network-0 Cabinet and Network-1 Cabinet). Each BYNET V5 cabinet contains one primary server management Ethernet switch and one secondary server management Ethernet switch.
  • Separate paths for the primary and secondary server management networks ensure network backup. The primary and secondary networks are configured as follows:
    • The primary Ethernet switch in the BYNET V5 Network-0 Cabinet acts as the gathering switch for the primary switches in all odd-numbered cabinets in the system. The primary switches in those odd-numbered cabinets act as gathering switches for the primary switches in the even-numbered cabinets.
    • The secondary Ethernet switch in BYNET V5 Network-1 Cabinet acts as the gathering switch for the secondary switches in all even-numbered cabinets in the system. The secondary switches in those even-numbered cabinets act as gathering switches for the secondary switches in the odd-numbered cabinets.
    • Each BYNET V5 cabinet connects to the gathering switch in the other BYNET V5 cabinet (Network-0 Cabinet primary to Network-1 Cabinet primary, Network-1 Cabinet secondary to Network-0 Cabinet secondary).
  • For port-to-port cabling, see the appropriate Hardware Installation Guide.
