The drive storage in a coexistence system must be certified for its specific platform.
Teradata Traditional Storage mode is the default storage mode for Teradata systems with HDD only storage. Teradata Virtual Storage (TVS) is a storage software subsystem enabled in Teradata Database 13.00 and later that provides functionality regarding how storage is configured and used in a Teradata system. TVS is required for Teradata systems with hybrid HDD and SSD storage, and optional for Teradata systems with HDD only storage.
In 6700C coexistence systems, all storage drives must be HDD storage drives. 56XX or 6650 systems that contain EMC storage, whether it be EMC only or in a coexistence system with Teradata storage, must use Teradata Traditional Storage mode.
In 6700H and 6700X coexistence systems, storage drives are hybrid HDD and SSD.
The following table shows which OS, minimum Teradata Database version, and storage mode are used with 6700C/H/X coexistence systems.
Coexistence System | OS | Minimum Teradata Database Version | Storage Mode |
---|---|---|---|
6700C/56XX/6650 | SLES 10 SP3 | 13.00.xx.xx | Teradata Traditional Storage Mode or Teradata Virtual Storage Mode |
SLES 11 | 14.00.xx.xx | ||
6700H/6680 | SLES 10 SP3 | 13.10.xx.xx | Teradata Virtual Storage Mode |
SLES 11 | 14.00.xx.xx | ||
6700X/6690 | SLES 10 SP3 | 13.10.xx.xx | Teradata Virtual Storage Mode |
SLES 11 | 14.00.xx.xx | ||
