Endpoints are comparable to Teradata gateways or parsing engines. Endpoints listen for incoming client connections. The endpoint process accepts client connections when there are no underlying systems to receive open requests. The endpoints perform initial parsing of incoming requests to determine the affected tables. For most setups, one endpoint per server is required.
