Procedure

Estimating the amount of permanent space that a Teradata MultiLoad job requires is a three-step procedure:

1 Prepare a preliminary estimate for the work table and error table requirements, using a set of simplifying assumptions:

There is only one target table.

It has no fallback protection, no journals, and no NUSIs.

The job does not write to the error tables.

Teradata Database does not experience a restart condition while the job is running.

2 Adjust the preliminary estimate according to the actual job requirements and expectations:

Fallback protection

Journals

Non-unique indexes

Multiple target tables

Error table entries

Teradata Database restarts

3 Compute and add the space requirements for the restart log table.
