TDP3552 STORAGE LIMITED: count

Explanation:

In response to a TDP 'DISPLAY NP DETAIL' command, this message provides information for I/O buffers being used to send data to the Teradata Database. The number of times a buffer was not added to an I/O because it exceeded the maximum amount of NP storage is displayed. This count is reset each time the encapsulation protocol is established (such as when the Teradata Database restarts). This message appears only when the count is not zero.

Notes:

The maximum amount of storage is used to balance the use of TDP virtual storage against throughput. Exceeding this limit may or may not impact throughput: if the NP has at least one buffer to send a request, there is no significant delay since the remaining data is simply added added to the next I/O; if there is no buffer, then throughput will be impacted since the I/O must be delayed until another NP frees a buffer upon completion of its I/O. The limit can be displayed using the TDP DISPLAY NP DETAIL command, and changed using the CONFIG NP MAXBLKSZ command. Changin this limit is intended for use by Development personnel. Changing the values could greatly increase virtual storage requirements.
