A non-driver-based function returns results as a result set. However, all Aster Analytics Foundation driver-based functions store result sets in permanent tables.
A driver function reads rows from the Queen through JDBC (or ODBC), feeds rows to the SQL-MapReduce API to send the rows back to Queen, and sends them to the end client. Therefore, it is more efficient for driver-based functions to store results in permanent tables instead of returning result sets.
