Complete this step only if you have chosen to use SVC communication mode instead of PC (Program Call) mode at your site. In general, the more efficient PC mode is recommended.

If you are using the SVC communication mode:
- You must define a minimum of one SVC number for use by the Teradata software. However, to accommodate coexistence of the current version of Teradata Database software with a future version, it is recommended that you define two SVC numbers.
Each SVC number defined must have all of the following characteristics:
- It must be a three digit number, in the range 200-255 inclusive, and currently unassigned.
- It must be SVC type 3 or type 4.
