As installed, the TDP memory system is tuned for a very small workload. If the production workload greatly exceeds the level for which TDP is prepared, it may come to a complete stop. This may require that TDP be shut down and restarted to re-establish communication with the Teradata Database server.

For more information on tuning, refer to the General Tuning Options section of the Performance Measurement chapter in Teradata Director Program Reference, B035-2416.

  1. Within a few hours of the initial start of the production Teradata workload on the IBM System z mainframe, collect TDP Cells data and perform the first tuning procedure.
  2. Within a few days, perform the tuning procedure again.
  3. Continue to periodically check the TDP Cells data to determine if the workload has changed and the tuning procedure is required again.
