When the value for Response-mode is not appropriate for the application, you should perform the following procedure before calling DBCHCL for Connect, RunStartUp, Initiate with Protocol-Function, or Initiate Request:

  1. Set Change-options to ‘Y‘.
  2. Change the value for Response-mode as follows.
    Unless a new application must support old versions of the Teradata Database, which would reject its use, Response-mode should always be set to ‘M‘. The CLIv2 Query routine QEPILOB (or QEPIASL) can be used to ascertain if the Database supports this enhancement.
