ODBC driver optionally allows the password to be stored together with the database user name in the DSN. On Linux/UNIX and Apple OS X the password is stored in the odbc.ini file as plain text and on Windows it is stored in the registry with a weak encryption. This is considered unsafe and is now replaced by the Teradata Wallet functionality. For details, see “Teradata Wallet” on page 98.
Users are strongly advised to not store passwords in the DSN and the ability to do so will be deprecated and removed in future releases.
