metaviews
Purpose
The metaviews program eliminates the requirement that a Teradata Database user configured for a system object must have SELECT privileges on the DBC tables by installing a set of MDS views into the DBC database.
Syntax
metaviews [-e] [-h]
Parameter |
Description |
-e |
Drops the MDS views from the system’s DBC database. |
-h |
Displays a message describing the metaviews parameters and then exits. No changes are made to the system. |
Description
The installed views reference the DBC tables and are used by the metaload program to load the Teradata Database data dictionary information.
The program can either add or remove views from a system’s DBC database. If no parameters are supplied, metaviews adds the MDS views to the system’s DBC database. After the views are created, SELECT privilege is granted to PUBLIC on all of the MDS views. If the -e parameter is given, metaviews drops the MDS views from the system’s DBC database.
Metaviews runs on Windows and Linux.
The metaviews program prompts the MDS administrator for the ODBC Data Source Name, user name and password to use to connect to Teradata to create the views. The user name must have permissions to create views in the DBC database.
