Repository Search

The Repository Search feature of MDS Repository Explorer allows easy access and simplified viewing of meta data stored in the MDS repository. Through Repository Search you can perform general searches or search for specific objects. The content on the resulting web pages is dynamically generated and by following hyperlinks you can drill-down and obtain detailed data. Examples of detailed data include Business Descriptions, data origin (Where did the data come from?), data history (When was it loaded? What do previous versions look like?), impact analysis (What columns and tables are used to define a view? Is there redundant data?), compare metadata, and so on.

MDS Repository Search provides two powerful modes to search through the repository. These include: Standard Search and Business Search.

This topic covers:

  • The Search Interface
  • Standard Search
  • Business Search
