A Session Processor (SP) is a logical component on the Teradata Database that provides session capacity, which is the connection between an application and the Database. Each SP allows a fixed number of sessions, but many SPs can be used by a TDP. The implementation of an SP can vary on different Databases, but the behavior of all SPs is the same. For example, on a DBC/1012, an IFP implements an SP, while on a System 3600, a PE implements an SP.
No aspect of an SP is known to the client operating system.
