|
Dump Server Dell R720xd |
Dell R720xd chassis. Dedicated server used for crash dump data analysis. Data can be offloaded from the production data warehouse environment to a dump server, allowing for analysis without disruption to the production system. The dump server must run the same version of Teradata Database as the production system from which the dump data was offloaded. Each dump server consists of:
One portable USB DVD ROM drive is included per system that uses a Dell R720xd dump server. The product ID number for the USB DVD ROM drive kit is 2021-K944-V001. The kit includes instructions for using the drive.

BYNET V4 Interconnect | Redundant BYNET BYA32S switches. Used for processing node (TPA) and channel server communication.
|
BYNET V5 or InfiniBand Interconnect | Redundant BYNET V5 switches using BYNET V5 InfiniBand. Used for processing node (TPA) and channel server communication.
|
Virtualized Management Server (VMS) Intel R1208 |
A virtualized management server (VMS) can host the following virtual machines (VMs) on an Intel R1208 chassis:
An Intel R1208 VMS is available in System VMS, Small System VMS, and Cabinet VMS configurations and can be housed in a PFC cabinet, depending on the platform configuration. Each Small System VMS supports systems up to a maximum of 16 nodes and servers, and cannot be used in multi-system/multi-site ID configurations. Each Small System VMS consists of:
Each Intel R1208 System VMS supports systems up to a maximum of 128 nodes and servers, or up to a maximum of 128 disk arrays, and consists of:
Each Intel R1208 Cabinet VMS consists of:
|
Virtualized Management Server (VMS) Intel SR1625 |
A virtualized management server (VMS) can host the following virtual machines (VMs) on an Intel SR1625 chassis:
An Intel SR1625 VMS is available in System VMS and Cabinet VMS configurations. A 6700 cabinet or BYNET V5 cabinet can contain a System or Cabinet VMS. A TMS cabinet contains the System VMS in 6700H 3+1 clique configurations. Each Intel SR1625 System VMS supports a system up to a maximum of 64 disk arrays and consists of:
Each Intel SR1625 Cabinet VMS consists of:
|
CMIC Node Intel SR2600 (2U) Intel SR1625 (1U) |
Intel SR2600 chassis or Intel SR1625 chassis, for server management of cabinet chassis within a collective for redundancy in systems that have only one CMIC in a platform cabinet, or for system configurations that require a CMIC node in a separate cabinet:
|
Enterprise Service Workstation (SWS) |
Teradata Dell R710 or Dell R720 workstation dedicated to system servicing and maintenance. Systems with an SR1625 System VMS and more than 64 disk arrays, or an R1208 System VMS and more than 128 disk arrays, require dedicated Enterprise SWS hardware (rather than a VMS with an SWS virtual machine). For systems that use dedicated Enterprise SWS hardware, the SWS hardware resides in a TMS cabinet.
The level of service depends on the service agreement between Teradata and the customer.
Although Dell T610 SWS workstations are not installed in a TMS cabinet at the factory, Dell T610 SWSs can be installed in a TMS cabinet at a customer site.
|
Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) Console | If the system has a VMS in a TMS cabinet, the KVM resides in the TMS cabinet and has VGA and USB connections to the VMS. |
Switches |
|
Cable Modes | Teradata systems are shipped with multi-mode fiber (MMF) connections for the 10Gb Ethernet optical interface into all servers. Single-mode fiber (SMF) connections are not supported. |
BAR Storage Data Domain, Oracle, and Quantum products |
Storage hardware and encryption key management servers. The following are used for BAR and installed in the field by third-party vendor personnel:
Encryption key management servers may require a Dell 2824 1 Gb 24-port Ethernet switch to synchronize keys between the redundant servers.
Equipment from different vendors can be installed in the same PFC cabinet, as long as the cabinet build and space allocation rules are observed.
Although the Oracle SL500 and Data Domain 890 have been discontinued, the vendor or Teradata personnel can consolidate existing systems in a PFC cabinet at a customer site.
|
BAR Storage Hardware Teradata Managed Storage Server (TMSS) (Dell R720xd) Teradata Multipurpose Storage Server (TMSS) (Dell R730xd) |
Dell R720xd or Dell R730xd server. Used as an NFS storage target with the Appliance Backup Utility (ABU) and with the Data Stream Utility (DSU).
All TMSSs have onboard connectivity to the server management network. They can also be connected to BYNET V5 switches. If the option to connect to a BYNET V5 switch is used, port consumption ramifications should be considered.
|
Cable Management |
Cable harnesses for power, server management, and (optional) BAR administration.
|
AC Power |
Two AC boxes of the same type per cabinet. Available AC box types:
|
