The Quantum Scalar i3 tape library provides an automated way to retrieve, store, and manage tape cartridges. Firmware running on the library or software running on the host system is used to mount and dismount tape cartridges from the library.
Quantum libraries can be monitored by Teradata Server Management using CMIC sm-sw 12.07 or later.
The i3 library is connected to the customer LAN and has a phone home feature so the library can contact Quantum directly if there are issues.
