Much of the functionality of Teradata SQL Assistant is controlled by configuration files. In most cases these files are created automatically by the application during regular use. The files are written to \Users\<username>\AppData\Teradata\SQL Assistant.

When the application starts up it reads the configuration files from this location. If it does not find the file in this location, it checks the ‘All Users’ branch for a file of the same name. If it still does not find the file, it uses built-in application defaults.

A customer might wish to install default configuration files as part of his or her own install process. The files can be installed in either location, but if the file already exists in the user’s own branch the application does not look at the one in the ‘All Users’ branch.
