The upgrade process reformats the existing DBS system tables to the format for the current release. The previous tables are temporarily renamed with an extension of the previous release number. Running the post_upgrade_cleanup.pl scripts removes the temporary tables.
This operation is performed for major and minor upgrades only and should be run approximately one week after the upgrade.
