Program Status Information

Each time a SQL statement is executed, it returns a code to communicate whether the statement executed successfully or not. Define an area to receive these codes.

When precompiling applications under Teradata-compatible mode by setting the TRANSACT option to BTET, COMMIT or 2PC, define a communications area by using the INCLUDE SQLCA statement or by declaring a SQLCA area in the WORKING STORAGE SECTION of the application.

When precompiling applications under ANSI compatible mode by defining the TRANSACT option as ANSI, use the SQLCODE and SQLSTATE variables to receive feedback information.

Do not mix program status communication areas between Teradata and ANSI compatible modes.
