Description

An Access Module is a software component of the Teradata client utility infrastructure that provides a blocklevel I/O interface to data residing on a specific external data storage device. Each Access Module is tailored to a specific type of external data storage device and can be dynamically linked to one or more Teradata client utilities by the Data Connector Application Program Interface (API).

The Data Connector API is a software component in each Teradata client utility infrastructure that provides a blocklevel I/O interface to one or more Access Modules. Each Data Connector API supports the logical record level I/O of the Teradata client utility, and is statically linked to the utility, as shown in Figure 1.

Note: When using Teradata Parallel Transporter (Teradata PT) to interface with an Access Modules, the Teradata PT DataConnector operator must be used. For more information, see “Access Modules with the Teradata PT DataConnector Operator” on page 22.
