The following sections discuss issues relating to synchronizing resources for non-2PC and 2PC applications.
- For non-2PC applications that update multiple databases, there is a period of time between transactions when databases are not synchronized or protected. The user must make sure that databases do not get out of sync and, if they do, explicit correct this condition.
- For 2PC applications that update multiple databases, the 2PC protocol synchronizes IMS and Teradata DBS resources in a protected fashion.
The 2PC protocol is part of an overall scheme that allows IMS applications to access the Teradata DBS database as a checkpoint or synchronization (syncpoint) participant.
