Choosing to not start Teradata on a group of nodes can make your Teradata system run slower or stop Vantage altogether. You should use caution when selecting a startup option. Teradata recommends that you do not select the option to have Teradata stay down after a reboot unless absolutely necessary. This would typically only be done when required for maintenance purposes.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the use of this operation, do not attempt to run the operation. Instead, contact your Teradata representative for assistance.

If you have determined that it is not necessary for Teradata to start after a reboot, Teradata recommends the following procedure:

  1. Start the Set Teradata Startup Option.
  2. Select all TPA nodes.
  3. Select to not start the database after a reboot.
  4. Select to reboot the nodes.
  5. Finish the operation.
  6. Perform the maintenance that requires Teradata to be down.
  7. Start the Set Teradata Startup Option operation on the PUT main window.
  8. Select all TPA nodes.
  9. Select to start the database after a reboot.
  10. Select to reboot the nodes.
  11. Finish the operation.
