The Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse 6750 platform is made up of a combination of cabinet types, depending on the system configuration:

Cabinet Type Description
Processing/Storage Cabinet
A 6750H standalone, 6750HX standalone, or 6750HX coexistence processing/storage cabinet contains one clique and can contain one of the following configurations:
  • A 1+1 clique with one database processing node, one hot standby node, and two disk arrays
  • A 2+1 clique with two database processing nodes, one hot standby node, and four disk arrays
  • A 3+1 clique with three database processing nodes, one hot standby node, and four disk arrays
A 6750X coexistence processing/storage cabinet contains one clique and can contain one of the following configurations:
  • A 1+1 clique with one database processing node, one hot standby node, and two disk arrays
  • A 2+1 clique with two database processing nodes, one hot standby node, and four disk arrays

Other chassis in the cabinet provide power and server management functionality. In some configurations the cabinet can also contain optional PE nodes, channel servers, and TMS servers.

For systems scalable to a maximum of 18 Teradata Database nodes:
  • For 6750H standalone, 6750HX standalone, and 6750X coexistence 1+1 and 2+1 cliques, the two 36-port BYNET V5 InfiniBand switches (BYNET V5 interconnect) are housed in the base cabinet.
6750HX coexistence models use the two 36-port BYNET V5 InfiniBand switches (BYNET V5 interconnect) housed in the 6700H base cabinet.
  • For 6750H standalone and 6750HX standalone 3+1 clique cabinets, the two 36-port switches are housed in a Platform Framework Cabinet.
For more information about clique configurations, see Platform Features Summary or Disk Storage Interconnect.
BYNET V5 Cabinet

(BYNET V5 Interconnect)

Each BYNET V5 cabinet contains one or two InfiniBand switches, depending on the configuration. AC boxes in the cabinet provide power. Ethernet switches provide server management functionality.
  • A 108-port switch cabinet supports scalability from one to a maximum of 108 nodes. The cabinet contains two 108-port switches for redundancy. The cabinet can also contain an optional System VMS and KVM and up to two TMS servers.
  • A 162-port switch cabinet supports scalability from one to a maximum of 162 nodes. 162-port switch cabinets are paired for redundancy. Each cabinet can also contain an optional System VMS and KVM and up to three TMS servers.
  • A 324-port switch cabinet supports scalability from one to a maximum of 324 nodes. 324-port switch cabinets are paired for redundancy.
System configurations larger than 324 nodes (to a maximum of 1,024 nodes) are accommodated by special order.
Platform Framework Cabinet

(PFC)

The PFC can contain any combination of channel servers, ECS servers, TMS servers, and other switches, plus BAR storage. In some 6750H/HX configurations, the System VMS, KVM, and BYNET V5 36-port switches are housed in the PFC. The PFC can also be used to support system configurations that require a dedicated Service Workstation server or Viewpoint server. Other chassis in the cabinet provide power and server management functionality.
