All drives in a 6800C system are HDDs.

The following standalone configurations are supported for a 6800C 2+1 clique with HDDs:

No. of HDDs per Node Configuration
144
  • Two Teradata Database nodes plus one hot standby node to four disk arrays (2:4 ratio)
  • 36 AMPs per node (APN)
  • 144 HDDs per active node (no mixed drive types or sizes in each disk array)
168
  • Two Teradata Database nodes plus one hot standby node to four disk arrays (2:4 ratio)
  • 42 AMPs per node (APN)
  • 168 HDDs per active node (no mixed drive types or sizes in each disk array)
184
  • Two Teradata Database nodes plus one hot standby node to four disk arrays (2:4 ratio)
  • 46 AMPs per node (APN)
  • 184 HDDs per active node (no mixed drive types or sizes in each disk array)
Variable Override
  • Two Teradata Database nodes plus one hot standby node to four disk arrays (2:4 ratio)
  • Up to 46 AMPs per node (APN)
  • Up to 184 HDDs per active node in multiples of 4 or 6 (no mixed drive types or sizes in each disk array)

For standard configurations of a 6800C 2+1 clique with four disk arrays, the following guidelines apply:

  • Two Teradata Database nodes plus one hot standby node to four disk arrays (2:4 ratio)
  • 36, 42, or 46 AMPs per node
  • 144, 168, or 184 drives per node (no mixed drive types or sizes in each disk array)
  • 72, 84, or 92 drives per array

For a Variable Override configuration of a 6800C 2+1 clique with four disk arrays, the following guidelines apply:

  • This Variable Override configuration requires approval from Teradata
  • Two Teradata Database nodes plus one hot standby node to four disk arrays (2:4 ratio)
  • Up to 46 AMPs per node
  • Up to 184 drives per node in multiples of 4 or 6 (no mixed drive types or sizes in each disk array)
  • Up to 92 drives per array in 4 arrays
