The Restore Latest option requires a Teradata Database system initialization process that destroys all user and dictionary data and reinitializes the system. Use Restore Latest only for disaster recovery or when the system initialization process has been run on Teradata Database.

The Restore Latest option uses only the dataset of the latest successful Backup All job so that you can recover the entire Teradata Database. The following requirements apply:
  • You must restore to the same Teradata Database system that was the source for the backup job data.
  • The Teradata Database system must have an identical Teradata Database major release version, for example, Teradata Database 15.00.xx.xx.
  • The restore job must have the same stream count as the Backup All job. The stream count is automatically configured in the restore job: do not change the stream count in the job script.
You can use the Restore Latest dataset to selectively restore data with the Restore Selected Objects option. The Restore Selected Objects option is required if you:
  • Restore a Backup All job that is not the most recent job.
  • Use Appliance Backup Utility 16.20 or later to restore the parent DBC database from a backup dataset created with a version prior to 16.20.
