  • You must be the root user to run the configuration script.
  • You must establish a mount point for each Teradata Database node that will function as an Appliance Backup Utility client before you run the configuration script.
The configuration script prompts for items in the following table.
Prompt Notes
How many Appliance Backup Utility clients you want in your system For best performance, specify each Teradata Database node as a client. Each Appliance Backup Utility client requires Appliance Backup Utility software and a connection to the disk storage.
Teradata TDPID  
Teradata Database user logon name  
The number of ARC sessions per stream  
Client storage destinations Do not specify node system disks as destination paths.
Administrator password for the Appliance Backup Utility server  
  1. Determine which Teradata Database node should be the Appliance Backup Utility server. The Appliance Backup Utility server node is where you will run the configuration script. Appliance Backup Utility software must be installed on the Appliance Backup Utility server node.
  2. In a command-line window on the Appliance Backup Utility server node, change the directory to /opt/teradata/abu_service/service/bin.
  3. Type ./configure. An options menu appears.
  4. Type configure -all to install the Appliance Backup Utility client and GUI and configure the Appliance Backup Utility.
  5. Follow the prompts. The Appliance Backup Utility server starts and Appliance Backup Utility clients are established.
