Customers or designated parties are responsible for uncrating cabinets.
- Review the Open Me First document.
- Before you unpack the cabinet:
- Make sure adequate help is available.
- Verify that the floor loading at the installation destination is within specifications for the total number of cabinets to be installed.
- Check that the floor can support the concentrated floor loading.
Vented floor tiles cannot support as much weight as solid tiles. Replace vented floor tiles with solid floor tiles along the path where cabinets will be rolled. Failure to do so may cause damage or collapse of vented floor tiles, resulting in physical damage or bodily injury.
Make sure the equipment is in position before allowing the forklift or pallet jack to leave. A fully configured cabinet is very heavy.
- Locate the panel labeled RAMP on the front of the container.
- Orient the container so the panel labeled RAMP has at least 3.7 m (12 ft) of clearance area.The width required in front of the container is 1.8 m (6 ft).Uncrating the Cabinet and Installing the Ramp
- Cut the banding on the outside of the container.
- Push up and remove the top of the container at the RAMP end.This allows clearance for the ramp to be lowered.The ramp panel is heavy.
- While holding the RAMP, remove the four metal clamps holding the RAMP and carefully lower the ramp to the floor.
- Remove the three clips holding the side panel to the rear panel and remove the side panel.
- Remove the final three clips and remove the other side panel and the rear panel.
- Remove the following:
- Any boxes attached to the pallet or unit.
- The protective foam collars from the top and middle.
- The plastic bag. Locate the door key.
- Unbolt the shipping brackets at the front and rear of the cabinet from the pallet and cabinet.Save the shipping brackets, bolts, and washers if you plan to use seismic bracing.
- Attach the ramp to the front of the pallet using the rectangular metal brackets.Secure the ramp using four of the 3/8-inch x 1 1/4-inch long bolts, and four 1-inch flat washers (that held the shipping bracket to the pallet). There are 3/8-inch Tee nuts in both the pallet and the ramp. Make sure the ramp is securely fastened to the pallet.Be sure the plastic bag is removed before rolling the cabinet down the ramp. The plastic bag presents a slippery hand hold and may prevent you from holding the cabinet securely.Bracket Locations
- With a minimum of one person pushing the cabinet from behind, and two people guiding the cabinet from the sides, roll the cabinet down the ramp, off the pallet, and onto the floor.The cabinet is top heavy. Do not push it from the side. Push it from front to rear. - Move the cabinet to the installation location.
