This section describes methods that perform spatial filtering operations. Teradata Database accomplishes 2D spatial filtering using minimum bounding rectangles (MBRs). Three-dimensional filtering employs volumes represented as minimum bounding boxes (MBBs). For the MBB_Filter method, two 3D geometries are converted automatically to MBBs for the filtering calculation. For the Intersects_MBB and Within_MBB methods, a 3D geometry is compared to an MBB.
