Systems, collectives, cabinets, and chassis are assigned numbers in the Tree View during the initial configuration of the system.
System There can only be one system number per Server Management domain.
Collective Collective numbers must be unique within a Server Management domain.
Cabinet Cabinet numbers should be unique within a Server Management domain. An override option is available for backward compatibility. See the Teradata Server Management Web Services Configuration Guide, B035-5351.
Chassis Chassis numbers must be unique within a cabinet. They are normally numbered in a pre-determined manner per cabinet. A chassis type might have a different chassis number, depending on which cabinet type it is in. Chassis numbers cannot be changed.
VMs VMs are assigned numbers through the CMIC Configuration file, just like any other chassis. They are typically assigned numbers in the higher range to distinguish from physical chassis.
