Common Properties
Metadata in the MDS repository is represented as objects. Every object stored in the MDS repository has a set of common properties. These properties are described in the following subsection.
Note: Object API calls return all common properties for an object as described in the following subsections. ObjectKey API calls, however, return a small subset of those properties, such as object name and ID. When fewer details are required, ObjectKey calls are more efficient, resulting in better performance. See “Chapter 10 ObjectKey Classes” on page 231. User-defined property filters allow for greater flexibility when standard Object API calls return too much information and the ObjectKey calls return too little.
