Use the max() method to return column-wise maximum value of a DataFrame.

Example: Return maximum value of a DataFrame

>>> df.max()
      max_employee_no max_first_name max_marks max_dob max_joined_date
    0             112          abcde      None    None      2018-05-12
 

Example: Return maximum value of some columns of a DataFrame

>>> df1 = df.select(['employee_no', 'first_name', 'joined_date'])

>>> df1.max()
      max_employee_no max_first_name max_joined_date
    0             112          abcde      2018-05-12
