If a user logs onto the Appliance Backup Utility server but does not have root permissions, the Appliance Backup Utility GUI fails to launch. When the GUI is launched, gui_log.txt is created in /opt/teradata/abu_service/gui. If the directory does not have write permissions for the current user, the log file cannot be created.
  1. If the permissions do not exist, give the current user write permissions to /opt/teradata/abu_service/gui .
  2. If you have to relaunch the GUI, on the console of the Teradata node where the Appliance Backup Utility server resides:
    1. Change directory to /opt/teradata/abu_service/gui/bin.
    2. Type one of the following commands:
    Operating System Command
    RedHat Linux ./abu_gui.jar
    SUSE Linux abugui
You can remotely connect to the Appliance Backup Utility server node from a workstation that is running an X server.
