You can back up selected database objects such as indexes and triggers with the Backup Selected Objects option when you do not want to back up all DBC data. With this option, you can also override the parameters that were set through the configuration script. However, the changes affect only how the selected objects for a specific job are backed up.
  1. From the menu, click Task > Backup Selected Objects.
  2. [Optional] From the Log on to Teradata DBS dialog box:
    1. Enter a UserID for the user account.
    2. Enter a password for the user account.
  3. Click Connect to log on to Teradata Database. The Backup Object Selection dialog box appears.

  4. In the Backup Object Selection dialog box:
    1. In the left pane, highlight a database and click next to the database tree you want to expand.
    2. In the right pane, select the boxes next to the objects in the database that you want to back up.
Select all objects in a database by checking the box next to the database in the left pane.
  5. Click to build the ARC script.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Script Options dialog box, enter the Job Name and any other options you choose. Job names are case sensitive. For example, backup1.bkp and Backup1.bkp specify different jobs. Clients and destination paths are assigned and a stream is assigned to each Appliance Backup Utility client in round-robin fashion. Teradata Corporation recommends you do not change these defaults.
If you manually change client assignments for this backup dataset, the restore job requires the same changes in the Clients Assignment field and DestinationPath keyword values in the Script Editor.
  8. [Optional] Click Preview to preview the script. The Script Editor dialog box opens.
  9. [Optional] To change the job destination path, modify the script in the Script Editor dialog box and click Save.
  10. To launch the job, click Launch in the Script Options dialog box.
Job status is displayed in the Appliance Backup Utility dialog box.
