The CLIv2 application specifies whether it is operating in 2PC mode or non‑2PC mode at connect time. To initiate the protocol for a session, the application can perform either of the following actions:

  • Set a field option in DBCAREA and execute a CLIv2 Connect function in the individual application
  • Set a 2PC mode default for all applications through the HSHSPB
  • A CLIv2 application can set the DBCAREA field for the CLIv2 Connect directly.

    For more information on setting the 2PC field for the Connect function, see “DBCHCL” on page 244. There is no limit to the number of sessions running in either mode, other than the maximum number allowed for the system.
